Here it is, The Route.
I chose to map out a route in advance so I have to keep moving. This trip to me is about extended travel to many different places, so I wanted to make sure I wouldn’t get stuck anywhere for too long and miss out on somewhere I knew I wanted to go (on this trip at least). I considered slow travel, I considered trying to fit in everything possible, and I think I’ve come up with a happy medium that I’m comfortable with. I wanted to find a balance of planning and freedom, and some parts of this are still pretty flexible, but here is the outline that I am setting out with.
Argentina – At this point I plan to spend a month in Buenos Aires, with side trips around Argentina and Uruguay
Southeast Asia – Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam, Thailand
At this point, I’ve stopped planning. I figured 9 months up front is long enough to plan out. But at this point I also don’t have a return flight. So stay tuned for what happens in March – I could keep going, I could come home, I could go back somewhere I loved, who knows really. And that is what ended up being so exciting to me about planning the trip this way. The world is full of so much that is unknown to me, and I will discover so much about it and about myself that I can’t predict what I will be thinking in March of 2015, so why try?
